Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Obama would rather be a university professor...

As I understand it, he was a lousy lecturer. Couldn't engage with his students (or others on the campus).

I've had teachers, instructors, TA's and professors of that ken. They were a total waste of dollars spent for tuition then; now with education costing so much, they must be a disaster.

I frankly can't conceive of a job for which he would qualify.

You live in a blue state, I lived in a blue state - both require positive ID (license, state ID, passport) to vote.

I don't get it. Are they saying that the states of Massachusetts and Connecticut are racist?

Hell, to even cash a check, get power turned on, even to use a credit card, you have to show your drivers license. Why not to vote, unless chicanery is the cause...

Re Voter fraud:

Of course the dems want it. It works to their advantage and the penalties are negligible. How many elections have they won in the last 10 years with fraud?

And now there is this, an attempt at legalized cheating:

Foreign residents in Venezuela may vote in parish and municipal elections. However, these foreign residents are NOT illegals, as they must fulfill certain documented status to be able to vote. For example, they must have a cédula, a.k.a. national identity card.
Moreover, this is national policy- has been since before Thugo took office- and not an ad hoc deal proposed by some pissant mayor.

ID to cash a check? Hell, just try making a deposit of a big ol' wad of cash. You need an ID for that too.

The more they protest the more convince I become of widespread voter fraud.

I just spent a month in India. Strange place. In some ways very first world. In some ways very third world. But there is enough really poor people there that the government could never take a position that would choke off growth.
