We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
Given the temper of our time, perhaps Cook's recent brush with oblivion was to be expected. Cook's picturesque destinations -- Egypt, Tunisia, Morocco, Greece -- now offer torchlit barricades and street mobs spewing "off-with-their-heads" rhetoric. It is not exactly the stuff of tourist brochures.
It's certainly coincidental that just as I saw that, I had the Maggie's editor open commenting on another article on the same site for my election post tomorrow. His view of the election is spot on, although we differ wildly in the 'entertainment value' of the process.
"Happy Meal Ban: McDonald's Outsmarts San Francisco"
I was surprised and delighted to see McDonald's end run around the law.
However, the larger point was that McD's management actually had the nerve to stand up to the Left in this instance. I had expected them to meekly pull the kid's meal from the menu.
Perhaps it is the dawn of a new age in corporate management?
That lady has too much time on his hands. She looses me when she asserts that healthcare and education are rights. Then she spends the rest of the column seemingly defending prostitution. At least in her view, sex (unlike her health care and education) requires a consenting person.
The depth of thought in this column reminds me of the "Deep Thoughts" by Jack Handey segments on Saturday Night.
Re: the kidnapper suing his victims, Please tell me that this is going to appear before Judge Judy.
Neosockets: The shape gives a clue about where they pull that out of
As for outsmarting San Francisco: It isn't that hard to outsmart a bunch of wannabe (stereotype) hippies (in deference to Dr. Mercury). Not to mention politicians.
Although, McDonalds does show us the way. Far to many make the laws work, I say comply with the letter of the law and let the politicians reap what they sowed. Slow down, everyone obey the 55 mph speed limit. Cities like Atlanta, Washington, LA, would grind to a halt with late delivery of supplies and 10 commutes home.
ProTip: Always gulp down half a cup of coffee before commenting on blog sites. :)
Feebs - Thanks for the great link! I immediately order ten of them along with the auxiliary 10-socket cigarette lighter socket panel, so if I'm doing the math right, it should reduce my gas mileage by 98%! I owe ya, buddy!
JKB - Thanks for the endorsement! Always nice to be mentioned. BTW, loved your second line. Until I read "Ideal for car use", I thought it was a butt plug. :)
You got me, Doc. I got up way early this morning and hadn't been able to get my coffee. At first, I assumed it must have been written by a man given the topic, etc. but was surprised that a woman wrote it!
