Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

"Ten Commandments via Surber"
It forgot "Get more than a 2nd-grade education." "They believe they are supposed to retire in their fifties or early sixties, with a pension followed by Social Security." Anyone who would imply that the above is 'irresponsible' should be taken out on the street and shot. First off, doesn't this blithering moron understand that the money they're taking from Social Security is THEIR GODDAMN MONEY? And as far as pensions go, that's the company's way of saying, "Thanks for all the great years working for us." Something WRONG with that, asshole? As for the 'retire at fifty or early sixties' goes, just how old would this cretin like us to be when we retire? 70? 80? 100? "They believe that if things get bad enough in their lives, unemployment, and later welfare, will keep a roof over their head and food on the table." Yeah, who'd want THAT in the United States of America, supposedly the 'greatest nation on earth'? Just let the unemployed DIE, is that it? I'm sure the Maggie's readership heartily agrees with this sentiment, given that none of them have spoken up about Bird Dog, Barrie and News Junkie expressing their heartfelt desire that poor people be starved to death by taking away their food stamps. With sentiments like these floating around the right wing, hasn't it occurred to anyone that maybe the conservatives don't deserve to win the next election? "Thanks for all the great years working for us." Something WRONG with that"
Yes, it's unsustainable. Logically and mathematically. It's the "soft" life that Surber pointed out that people are pining for. You're proving his point. What's wrong with it is that it's not realistic, and Reality responds harshly when you defy her. No need to insult Surber, he's just the messenger. the existence of Obama shows that the Reagan revolution is indeed lost.
No one comments on the debate posts because most people don't watch them. Registered Repub and I haven't seen one. I'm voting the Republican nominee anyway so what's the point. :)
In my book, Doc gets commended for the time and effort he put into the posts. They were well done.
However, I reside in a state with a May primary. The candidate has always been selected before that date. I don't have a say in the nomination process so what's the point? Furthermore, they all tick me off. Watching them would just make it worse. All the GOP candidates are sadly lacking in one way or another. I doubt if any of them have the ability to pull the USA out of what would be known in aeronautical circles as a graveyard spin. Yeah Doc, your time is better spent doing something else. Just remember, the readers aren't rejecting you. It is the subject matter. The outrage is that females dominate college graduates and most areas of study but not the useful knowledge majors. Thus we have the crisis that a college degree doesn't lead to a good job.
On the other hand, the females do dominate the education, government administration and health professions which are the growth industries right now. Well, at least until the tax base that pays for it dries up. An economy dominated by cost centers, I wonder how that will work out. Yeah I noticed that. Not all of them, but a lot of 'em. Degrees in Correct Thought and Vague but Strident Assertion.
Any party that would engage a policy of voter fraud is headed for black uniforms with silver skulls under a big broken cross black and red flag
Doc, you are in severe need of medication, STAT! You must be thinking of that "Lock-box" AlGore used to yammer on and on and on and on about and think he was speaking truth. Fairness and The American Way impel me to tell you: He LIED. The money you put in--got spent, Mine, too. Everybody I know, and them I don't--theirs, too.
