We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
That's a soft point, but for a real dinner bird he'll produce a hard, classic point. Really immoveable on a grouse or pheasant. This guy is from a line of red Standards into which the hunt talent is being bred back.
Lovely snow today. The pup is soft-pointing every sparrow in every bush. He loves snow.
I like to see standard poodles acting as "regular" dogs instead of wearing the exaggerated haircut that's usual in the dog shows. They are big, strong dogs, love to swim, and are hardy hunting buddies for people who know how to train them.
Of course, some people prefer a poofy dog like a Pomeranian or a miniature poodle. To which I say, I'm glad you can get the dog you want.
My most recent dog was a fox terrier, or mostly, so we called him a fox-ish terrier. 30 pounds of sweet activity. We miss him.
