We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
I agree, Alan. As soon as I saw that a pseudonymous poster had made this post, I completely discounted its credibility. In fact, I'd say that anything posted by someone hiding behind the mask of anonymity should immediately be assumed to be a lie unless proven otherwise. Thank goodness Bruce came along to help point this out.
"Extracting Lessons Learned From Having Killed a Killer"
Er, gee, I was really enjoying this article -- right up to the end when he laid the entire blame for turning Islamic jihadism into Political Correctness on Obama's shoulders. Uh, the Army didn't resort to PC tactics after Ft. Hood? The FBI didn't resort to PC tactics after most of their collars? Even if he had said "The Obama Administration", he would have been wide of the mark. This is way beyond 'administrative level', Lt. Colonel.
Tax "expenditures" are government expenditures in the same way that, in the illogic of Obamacare, not buying health insurance or health care is interstate commerce. The language is now so debased it's as if the people who say such things have just arrived on the latest interplanetary cruise ship from Mars.
Debased language? Boy, i'd say so. "We are going to cut spending in the tax code" sounds like 'we are going to cut spending' but actually means "some of the expense deductions we have allowed against the taxes we have passed on various enterprises and categories, will be revoked".
Take it from me, an oilfield expert sorta i guess, the fracking controversy is an attempt to federalize new EPA draconia, so that the children companies of Love Canal can park a few louts 24/7 with an unopened carton of swimming-pool pH paper on every drilling job in the country land or sea, and thereby charge thru to the suckers --i mean citizens --of the nation new and massive fees for basically nothing more than a demonstration of more crony capitalist legalized extortion muscle.
We don't want our EPA to mi$$ an opportunity, do we? Of cour$e not!
PS, should mention, the new federal regs would not be filling in a blank spot --drilling sites are well regulated already, by the states themselves. Successfully, too, as you will note by how few cases of failure the media must make do with.
