We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
Yesterday's quiz was too hard
Yesterdy's American archiecture quiz was was too hard. I honestly had no idea how to categorize it. It was a highly pleasing pastiche, and thus an unfair question. Our expert tells me this: That one was a bit of a mishmash, I imagine.
Being from Canada and working on a lot of historic homes, to me,it has an element of Italian villa in it given the large overhanging eaves and the belvedere. The windows however give it something else I'm not too sure of. [Georgian?]
To me it looks like it is an early American rooming or boarding house. The front door opens into the dining and a lounging area with the kitchen close behind and the rest of the house is small individual rooms for let with a community bathroom at the end of the hall. I lived in a similar one for a few months many years ago.
