We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
I've long thought that Virginia was, all in, the most beautiful state east of the Rockies. Mountains, seashore, beautiful horse country, wilderness, unmatched architectural heritage, and, of course, the Shenandoah. Hard to top.
I live in eastern Loudoun Co. which I like but the rolling countryside of western Loudoun is balm to my soul. The prices of that land then strip the balm and douse me with acid. Oh well.
I have the intention of living out my days somewhere in the Piedmont of North Carolina. As much as I love my Old Dominion, the Old North State is place I've come to love also.
