We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
Just one of hundreds of these dark, narrow alleys in central Firenze. Most have colorful laundry hanging from windows, but this one unfortunately did not have much in the way of interesting laundry.
Nice picture. But if f you want to see great medievally narrow dark alleys, go to Morocco. Fez, Marrakesh are cool. The markets there sell things in open bags--on seeing some mysterious blue crystals my mother asked what they were. "Tide!"
Yeah, even Siena is way better for medieval alleyways...Florence got a complete makeover during the renaissance, but its losing rival, Siena, went into depression after the plague and was never really changed much thereafter (much to the good fortune of 21st century tourists).
