We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
In regards to "Destroy Romney": As a resident of "Assachusetts", I can tell you that Romney is not the one who will save America. Romney is just another RHINO who favors "gun control", mandatory health care under penalty of law and more big government, globalist crap.
Mitt Romney's own record will destroy him.
P.S - "Choices are so limited in "Assachusetts", I even voted for Romney twice. Once for the Senate against Ted Kennedy and once for Governor. I will not vote for this phoney again. The RNC better get real and stop trying to destroy every real conservative Republican in the race.
While I was unemployed, I knew small companies had jobs. Thing is - they didn't pay enough.
It's an issue, and I don't know how you fix it except to let the salary market re-adjust. I'm not in a position to take a substantial cut in pay, having already taken several over the last few years.
If I was faced with that or nothing, sure. But small companies just don't offer enough money. During good times, they usually offered more.
Regarding Palin piece...what this country needs is not a pissing match about this or that spending line item, but an honest debate on the role and scope of government, fed, state and local and how much we can afford. A lot of the 'stimulus' went to states to shore up their unsustainable payroll and pension commitments.
Once we answer the question of role and scope, then it becomes an exercise to align costs and commitments to that.
