We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Guys being guys

Do normal guys like to hang out with guys and act stupid? Of course. In some ways, we never mature past age 7. In Teddy Roosevelt's case, age 6. Young women, often, do not comprehend the developmentally-arrested aspects of the male psyche.

I was watching an episode of Jackass with my then-15-year-old son. We were both laughing our butts off. My wife stopped by, watched for a minute, and then said "I can understand him laughing, but you're an adult! What's your excuse?"

My answer was, "Honey, you have to understand that inside the chest of every adult male beats the heart of a 15-year-old boy."

Main difference between the sexes? Women don't "get" the Three Stooges and never will!

Old saying around here is the reason God gave women vaginas was so men would bother to talk with them. Seems logical to me.

I've seen that commercial a thousand times (ok, maybe not a thousand, but quite a bit) and it's still funny. My long suffering spouse of 38 years never figured it out.

The redneck paintball duck hunting video is either the funniest stupid thing or the stupidest funny thing I've seen in a long time. And I've been known to watch an episode of "Wipeout" on the occasion.

If you want to embed it, B.D., try DailyMotion (link to that particular clip). YouTube's not the only game in town.

You'll get an ad at the DailyMotion site but it won't appear when you embed on your site.
