Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Capt. Tom likes this boat

What's not to like? She is ready for a summer trans-Atlantic sail to Ireland on your vacation, or, better yet, a cruise to the Med via the Canary Islands, with a quick stop at Bermuda and the Windwards en route. (You can hire people to sail her back home to the US while you and your sweetie-pie First Mate - or second - wander around Portugal, Spain, and Morocco.)

Dave - Console yourself with the thought that owning a boat with a lot of teak on it is like painting the Golden Gate Bridge.

And I would be very glad to sail it back for anybody from the Med to home port - I won't even charge my normal extravagant fee either!!

I think I'm turning Liberal Democrat!

Maybe we should increase the taxes on people who can afford such things since the fantasy of sailing around in such a luxury stimulates my ENVY.

You could probably hear the same stories from Doc. Mercury, but you see some really weird things when you charter or hire yourself out to Captain a charted boat.

No bikini's is more like it. :>)

During the first twenty years of my marriage, my husband and I sailed, and raced, quite a few sailboats, including one or two "one-offs". But even the most expensive of those did not equal the luxury of these below deck quarters. That is one gorgeous craft, Bird Dog. Do you mind telling us the builder and the length?

I've never heard of a Najad...

... the only accommodation more expensive per square foot than an apartment in Manhattan. Although now that the housing bubble has burst....

ROTFL!! That's not far from the truth. I have a good friend, Captain Wayne Beardsley who owns a 49' Grand Banks Classic. He and his wife Diane downsized their Florida home and spend more time on the GB. It's almost cheaper according to Wayne. :>)
