Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Even if the theory of global warming is wrong, we will be doing the right thing--in terms of economic policy and environmental policy." There, in one sentence, is a succinct display of the serial bad faith and will to power of modern environmentalism. Even if catastrophic global warming turns out to be correct, would you trust control of America's economy to people like Gore and Wirth? Neither would I.

In 1981 a paper about termites included a calculation (back-of-the-envelope, not rigorous, admittedly) of annual CO2 output y these busy little creatures. Eighty billion tons. Have humans gotten past thirty billion?

Even as late as 1990, the BBC (OK, BBC4, not the flagship) debunked then-current CO2 claims. Quite dated now, but still...

The IPCC was tasked with investigating possible human influence on climate, and it is natural for such investigators to view a problem as being THE problem: but like the UN`s Human Rights commission, it was staffed from the start with zealots who felt (and still feel) free to ignore the main body of evidence so only their viewpoint is heard outside the walls of the committee room.
