Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

Friday, May 20. 2011Netanyahu bitch-slaps Obama (Video)
NYT: "Peace based on illusions will crash eventually on the rocks of Middle East reality," an unsmiling Netanyahu told Obama in the Oval Office. Reactions: "Respect goes two ways and Obama, a leader who has a history of cavalierly dismissing the sensibilities of American allies, cannot pretend that he is the injured party here." Listen for yourself:

"The right-wing Israeli leader has had strained relations with Obama .."
The NYT goes out of its way to insult Netanyahu by labeling him "right-wing" while failing to refer to the US president as the "left-wing Obama". That's the NYT for you. There can be no reversion to the pre-1967 borders as long as the Muslim states surrounding Israel refuse to recognize Israel's right to exist as the Jewish homeland. History says it is only a matter of time until Israel's enemies start another war. Guarantees by the UN or US for Israel's security are worthless, as the present situation in southern Lebanon makes clear. Israel cannot afford to make even one mistake of judgement that could cost it its existence. The sad lesson for the US here is that it shows Obama is no more deft in negotiating foreign policy than he is in negotiating budgets with the Republicans. With Obama, it's no compromise, it's either his way or the highway. Cowardly Republicans in Congress may yet surrender in the face of Obama's arrogance, but Netanyahu has a stiffer backbone, I think. He will not likely back down on the Israeli position that the borders of any future Palestinian state are a matter for negotiation, which must also include a binding acceptance by the Muslims of Israel's right to exist. The Palestinians have earned the distrust of the Israelis, who have a right to be dubious about any promise the always untrustworthy Palestinians might make. Nothing Obama is saying or doing helps to address that problem. Benny is no less left wing than Hussein0.
But that's not an issue in this discussion. While Hussein0 is bent on USA's and Israel's demise Benny is still ready to kick tail of terrorists. Poppycock.
Netanyahu, as former prime Minister and former Finance Minister, set loose from statist controls of Labor Party much of the entrepreneurial energy I reviewed in Start-Up Nation http://maggiesfarm.anotherdotcom.com/archives/12839-Start-Up-Nation.html Start poppy again, Bruce?
Israel is still a spend it fore USA ends it government spendfest. So thinkest thou Benny ain't ready to kick tail on Islam? I appreciate yall's passion but it is short. Methink's since we have a Kenyan el presidente, Netanyahu would be the best socialist candidate for USA President. Alas centrists, it would be as illegal as Hussein0's current regime is. Let's elect a Constitutionally qualified candidate in 2012. More gibberish

The Israel-as-foreign-aid-leach meme just barely emerges from your incomprehensible post.
The facts: Israel has not received direct financial aid from America for over 30 years. All it gets is US-issued coupons that must be spent on US-made arms. So all the money comes back to the US - with the added value of technology share and real battlefield experience. Contrast that with Egypt - where America poured billions of dollars of direct aid into the pockets of a corrupt dictatorship, and now has nothing to show for it.

"Israel is still a spend it fore USA ends it government spendfest"...
Hmmm, do you have any problems with the billions of extorted tax dollars wasted on the Paleo-Swine in the West Bank and Gaza?

In the alternate universe that is NYT, there is no such thing as 'left fill in the blank'. There is only the acceptable and right-wing.
"Israel's right to exist". Countries do not have rights. Israel does not have a right to exist. If the people of Israel stop defending themselves from attackers without, Israel will disappear.
The people of Israel have the God-given right to defend themselves. They have constituted a government to provide for the common defense. That the founding of Israel was a messy affair is of no import. Creation of countries always are. There are jubilant victors and inconsolable vanquished. What matters, is what happens after the country is founded. Israel's behavior in that regard has been exemplary, while its foes have been perfidious. The Israeli people have a right to defend themselves. It is their choice to do so. It is our choice to be foe, ally, uninvolved, or independently pursuing our own permanent interests. For a very good history Ben Dor Yemini has 4 essays well worth you time.
http://www.nrg.co.il/online/1/ART1/483/521.html http://www.mideasttruth.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5990 http://nrg.co.il/online/1/ART1/529/562.html http://www.nrg.co.il/online/1/ART1/571/620.html I'm just afraid that BO, fortified with this 'land for peace' presentation, will do likewise elsewhere.
Just imagine - Taiwan returned to the mainland for peace, solve the illegal imigrant issue by giving back the taken land in 1845 annexation of Tejas and the further landgrab at the end of 1848. I mean, peace at ALL costs....! BO has shown us the way to a better existance, playing his fiddle and admiring the growing flames. I just keep hearing the earworm song from the musical "Chicago" (how fitting), He had it coming. Obama finally provoked someone that could speak back.
I find this humorous because the Carteresque BO has now pissed off the Jews. Hollywood now has a year and a half to retaliate... this should be fun. His timing was seriously off. Good Lord this manchild's incompetence is embarassing.
thanks for the whole clip. What an outstanding defense of why Israel won't budge. After all when your whole country can disappear in one afternoon you can't afford to give up a whole lot.
Re seat belts:
Accidents are a crap shoot and seat belts can kill as well as save lives. I have long wearied of how the nanny staters tell us how wonderful they are. If you are in a small vehicle colliding with a larger one or if you are broadsided they will simply ensure that you are crushed. You wanna save lives? Make everyone in a motor vehicle wear a crash helmet. |
