We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice looked rather goofy in their silly hats. Queen Elizabeth, on the other hand, looked like a Queen and a monarch, which she is. When you're 83, and have grave responsibilities, you strive for dignity and elegance, not silly hats.
Miss Marianne, Queen has worn lots of hats through the years and many dashing (http://www.eyeonlifemag.com/a-hat-for-all-seasons/the-hats-of-elizabeth-ii.html) but methinks this cake got misplaced with the hat she should have worn.
It was a family, of all kinds and sorts. Some more appealing, sensible, or alluring than others. Still, credit to the Queen, for enduring with equanimity such a strange brood.
