We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
Many people, rightly or wrongly and for better or worse, reject Psychiatric medicines which can be remarkably helpful things at times, but also emotion-blunting at times. Fortunately, it's a free country.
Creative geniuses are often imaginative, intelligent, idiosyncratic, solitary, insightful, self-reliant, theoretical, analytical, ahead of their time... a combination of traits which if not tempered with courage and wisdom about the “common” human condition, can easily lead to issues - usually anxiety and depression related. Power, status quo, tribalism, the mindless masses... often fear and take advantage of creative geniuses. Creativity isn't a function of being "addled", but IMO the reverse is more likely.
At least that’s what the crew on my former starship tells me.
