We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
The charming myth was that Christ spent some of his missing years in England.
There seems to be nothing like a royal wedding to get the gals up at 3 AM to watch including my Mom and Mrs. BD. Sheesh. Cool hats though, I must admit.
An chorister growing up, I spent multiple summers touring England and Scotland as part of a visiting American choir in those countries' glorious cathedrals. Nothing was better than singing Jerusalem in the likes of Ely Cathedral, etc. Always brought tears to my eyes. This morning's singing of the hymn at Westminster was no different. Cheers not only to the newlyweds, but to English music, history and tradition as well.
I too grew up in the choir of an Episcopal church. Many, many hours of practice, singing (in service), discipline contained with laughter. Ohhh--how I grieve for my lost church.
