We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
My kick against the current lefty concept of the Constitution is that they ignore that the US Constitution, as written, was the subject of much public discussion and state-wide voting before it was adopted and put in force. One result of that discussion was the agreement to add the Bill of Rights.
It was not "handed down" to us - it is a contract amongst the population about how they wanted to govern themselves. For one later group to come along and change it or "re-interpret it" is to break that contract. If the voting population decides that it needs changing, there are methods from prior agreement to do so that continue the agreement and keep the contract in force.
Changing from the agreement without those agreed-to methods via judicial re-interpretation is a direct attack upon the people's sovernty and is tantamount to a coup.
If our current journalists don't understand or refuse to acknowledge this concept, the deserve our contempt, distrust, and push-back - or worst.
