We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
I saw a bald eagle again almost the same place I saw one last week on a snag in the river, then I saw another one about a mile away up in a tree next to their nest. Pretty darned big. It'll probably be obscured by the leaves soon.
Sad news from the NBG nest today, 4/26/11: the Mom bird got hit by a passenger plane landing at the Norfolk airport (adjacent to the nesting area) and killed. As of this writing no determination on how to proceed with the three chicks -- whether to intervene or leave them solely to the care of their Pop parent -- has been made public.
