We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
In a fair world the 24 hour news cycle would be filled with the following headlines:
Obama lied about the reasons to go to war.
Obama holding thousands of prisoners without charges, without legal representation and for an indefinite period of time.
Obama is running secret prisons.
Obama ignores the Geneva Convention.
Obama treats detainees inhumanely. Allows troops to kill civilians.
Obama uses the Patriot Act to pry into library records and lord knows what else.
Obama illegally spying on TEA party activists.
Obama tramples on the rights of citizens.
But then, we all know life isn’t fair. Not when you can buy one party with trillions in debt.
Those masked thugs in London are no more "anarchists" than I am. They're hard left nanny state worshipers who long ago learned that pretending to be anarchists would get them a free pass from the press and usually the law for their violent acts.
In a real anarchy they would be the first with their head on a pike outside the businesses they attacked, and they know it.
Britain's austerity measures are the results of realizing that the welfare state is unsustainable. We'll be seeing much more of that in the near future, as economies continue to shrink and in many cases, collapse.
Haym Solomon was, of course, the gentleman who helped finance our Revolutionary War. He was extremely talented, and undaunted by challenges which would have taken aback lesser souls. In my youth, in grade school, I believe, I read all about him [teachers in those days did the boring repetitive thing and taught us hard to remember but interesting facts and how to spell and diagram a sentence]. But of course, this was back in the 1930s and 40s, when we didn't have courses in Gender Studies, and other courses which mainly consisted of a laundry list of the teacher's prejudices, as they do today. This left considerably more time to be filled with real factual information, some of which, at 82, I still remember.
Heh --i guess critics of the tribe will find ammo here, but southerners sure as heck don't --the confederacy's surgeon general and attorney general both were Jewish. Doctors and lawyers, oy. That's what happens when several thousand years of mothers make their kids do their lessons --
