That scary, dangerous, evil moron Glenn Beck

Few of our readers likely have the time to sample him on TV (including me), so here's a sample of Beck responding to a seeming New York Times attack on him, on the subject of Francis Piven, via American Power's Glenn Beck Slams New York Times and Soros-Funded Center for Constitutional Rights (which we found via Theo):

I think this guy seems reasonable, fine as infotainment. Wants to be a TV professor. Not sure he can tell me much that I don't know. Anyway, I have a day job.

Also related, at Althouse: "History tells us" something that history doesn't tell us, say sociologists stumbling to protect Frances Fox Piven. Piven called for violent rioting.

--i think Beck is a great one --and i think that without Fox News, this country would be a dead duck.

I find it unwatchable.

His radio program is tolerably okay.

He's great as a guest on Imus.

YES, OVERLY DRAMATIC & A TOUCH JUVENILE, OR EMOTIONAL MAYBE? BUT THE ACCURATE & FACTUAL OFFERINGS ARE DEADLY FOR THE GARBAGE/PROPAGANDISTS HE EXPOSES, AS LONG AS THE VIEWERS REALIZE THAT HE'S MORE ACCURATE THAN PRETTY MUCH ANYONE ELSE ON FOX, OUTSIDE OF C, KRAUTHAMMER, WHO'S AS GOOD AT BEING PREDICTIVE AS BECK IS, IF NOT BETTER.

Agreed. I agree with much of his positions, but can't stand watching at all and can only tolerate a little of his radio show. Too melodramatic for my taste, but he's doing good work and has a large following...good on 'im.

The really sad thing is that Glenn is teaching basic civics and government that Americans should have been taught during Junior High School.

Too bad that Americans spend more time discussing the Super Bowl or other sports than they do about our government.

Out House @ #2, you can find his shows streaming on the net --just search the name and start looking at the offerings until you hit paydirt.

- Well said. And the infotainment factor is what makes younger people pay attention. Bird Dog, don't tell me you aren't shocked by what students churned out of the gummit maw don't know. Hell, I've talked to college students (or young professionals, for that matter), who are clueless.

His episodes can be found in their entirety on NMATV.com, when the site comes back up. It's been down since the 20th. I don't have a television, so what I catch is on purpose, and I will sit down for a bit on occasion to catch Mr. Beck.

I like Beck and often watch his show. Sometimes if I miss his broadcast I catch it on youtube later. He can be overly dramatic and even juvenile in his presentation. However he and his staff come up with research you won't find anywhere else. The sheer amount of useful information you can get from Beck makes his show worth watching.

My husband and I generally plan our evening around the show --eat dinner, watch Glenn Beck, go out and do the barn work. It's been a great education. I know he's on too early for the 9 to 5 workers and commuters but it works for us.

--that's for sure. There's a lot going on with his research staff --you can almost feel that 1776 zeal --and, you know, why the heck not? It's not as if Postmodern lies are doing anybody any good.

I only catch part of his radio broadcasts these days. I enjoy hearing about the once upon time America and how we can get back to some semblance of it. I'll admit I do get a bit irritated sometimes when he doesn't seem to let go of a topic.

His staff is great and when they're on the radio I enjoy them as much or more than Beck.

I got hooked on Beck during the run up to the Iraq war when he was calling people in other countries asking them their views. He talk to a French woman who was against the war and all wars. So he asked her if she spoke German. She said no. His response was "I wonder why?" Game, set, match.

What champion of American Revolution does not hold violence in honor?

Violence works well when properly applied.

Last time i listened to him on radio, some four years back, he was surrendering to moderate Muhammadans.

YEP, AGAIN I AGREE, HIS MELODRAMA & SOMETIMES DOGGEDNESS TO HARP TOO MUCH ON SPECIFIC SUBJECTS, CAN SOMETIMES IRRITATE, AT WHICH TIMES I TEND TO 'MISS' HIM FOR THE NEXT FEW DAYS, BUT THEN LATER ON, HE ALWAYS REDEEMS HIMSELF WITH EXCELLENCE ON OTHER SUBJECTS. I STILL GIVE HIM VERRYYY HIGH MARKS ON MAJORITY OF HIS SHOWS.

Sarah, yall need to remember that Glenn is wannabe priestess of Mormonites.

Though not born to it, he is convert.

Common sense forgoes such reconstructinonalists (see: Restoration of Jesus Christ’s Church http://www.mormon.org/restoration/) claim to alliance with Thomas Paine who all the while be opposite.

has anyone here read 1984? and moreover, understood the role that big brother takes in absolutely undermining the public's ability for free thought? escape your fear and try to think about the other 6.5 billion people on this planet who are in your plight (if it helps, thats 6,500,000,000; and if that does not help, just remember that ~5000 of those people control everything you see, hear, buy, and think). Glenn Beck is and always was a complete idiot. You’d have to be less than a half educated idiot to believe anything this fool says. This closet homosexual never went to college and never knew anything about World History, American History, World Religions or the US Constitution. He is simply a mocking bird for the twisted views of the John Birch Society and people need to wake up to the fact that Glenn Beck is just another uneducated charlatan who does not possess a single ounce of journalistic integrity. He is definitely not a conservative. In short, he is just another opinion pusher which is why he blends in so well with the bigots on Fox News Network. This self important racist climbed in bed with Satan a very long time ago as lies, half truths, fear and hate are his only products that he has for sale and he is making big money off of impressionable fools who love being told what to think. Glenn Beck is simply a product of mormon cult theology that he mixes with cherry picked parts of Catholicism, New Age Religions and his personal core as a washed up, dry alcoholic. This makes Glenn Beck one very screwed up moron who sold his soul to the lowest common denominator of personal stupidity. Beck consistently demonstrates all the unstable behaviors of a dry alcoholic which include grandiosity, judgmentalism, intolerance, impulsivity, ADD, indecisiveness and blindness to truth. In short, Beck, Limbaugh, O Reilly, Hannity, Palin, O Donnell, Coulter and others like them who think they are conservative are all guilty of perverting truth, history, facts, religion and the US Constitution when they open their big mouths. They are all idiots who live in and speak to some alternate reality of stupid red necks that feed off of fear & hate mongering while being fed a steady dose of extreme right wing lies.
