Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Friend bought a new toy

A pal just bought this rugged machine for his hunting and getaway place in upstate New York. He's been fixing up the old leaky farmhouse for a couple of years. Nice to see a Maggie's Farm logo on it - naw, too bad - it's just a wide-assed Massey-Ferguson:

Got a '81 Kubota 26 HP that was my Dad's. Though I grew up on a farm, it was after I had moved away to college that he got a tractor so I'd never learned to operate the thing.

Flash forward to 2006: what a neat tool for planting dove fields and irrigated duck holes! They're a lot of fun and very relaxing to operate.

Quite an interesting and colourful history to what used to be a huge and very successful Canadian company, eventually involving government bailouts and Conrad Black.

Oh well, at least we still have the Avro Arrow ... oh, wait ...
