public school teachers....choose private schools for their own children.

Probably true for most of the reasons listed, but in our case, and in particular because we adopted four kids, it was better to send them to private school for different reasons.

For one thing, each of them came with a lot of baggage and we could tailor their social/family therapy along with a more accepting learning environment. We needed to highly modify their educational plan because they were at all different levels of learning, but as they progressed, we and their teachers needed to be flexible as they progressed quickly - and they did progress quickly.

These are all issues and concepts a public school, including charter schools, can't handle properly. So in a way, yes the public school system technically "failed" to provide proper education for our children, but then again, they aren't designed or equipped to handle the numerous problems of kids like ours had.

Eventually, they surpassed grade level and by the 8th grade were ready for high school. With one exception, they went to public high school - the other went to private military academy because that's what he wanted to do with his life.

The one thing the article didn't mention was how many of these teachers used religious or church oriented schools. Around here in the Quiet Corner of CT, we have several non-denominational church operated schools and Catholic/Christian schools.
