Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

That's an interesting story but you could use better verbiage in the link to get people to click on it, because it really looks like just typical Maggie's Farm cheesecake.

The SSI rant makes it sound as if everyone on SSI is a faker and a welfare scrounged. Given that the author is a psychiatrist, one can only conclude that he is a tad burned out. And that's being charitable. His blog is intelligent, often funny and thought provoking but don't ever let a relative who is suffering read him. Not after you have just spent an hour telling them that "Your doctor doesn't hate you, he just has lousy social skills, but he does want to help.".
