Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

Sunday, November 7. 2010WalMart vs. The MoronsPic is from my first visit to a WalMart two weeks ago. It was a 24 hr/day Supercenter. Yes, I was impressed. It was stocked to the gills, clean as a whistle, and the old codger Greeter at 7 AM was just great.

...meanwhile, as they busily make Earth unliveable, they refuse to allocate one half-penny of every dollar the IRS confiscates via income tax to the ONE agency which offers us a CHANCE to get OFF this PLANET they are ruining.
We will be able to apply to China after they establish the first moon base and claim the moon for their country. Interplanetary travel will be much more feasible using the moon as a stepping stone.
Social Security can never be anything but broke, it is a Ponzi scheme. The only question is how long a list of clients are going to get squat when (not if) it stops paying them.
The federal government needs to be cut back to its rightful powers as enumerated in Article I, Section 8 (and the "general welfare" and "necessary and proper" clauses don't count -- Federalist #41 proves it). Every member of Congress today, except Ron Paul, should be in prison for violating this. Now thar's fresh idee; build more prisons so more GED kids can get themselves government jobs and pensions that will pay more after they cease turnin' the key.
Bird Dog, old godger who Greets at one Walmart i shop is supplementing his SSI. Walmart is kool. Yep. Thankfully so. Otherwise it would be able to be so successful!
That fact is, of course, the source of virtually 100% of WMT's 'bad publicity'.
Although the DoD is heavily beaurecratized, it is still the #1 institution that the American public trusts. Although I think that the men and women in uniform are the ones they REALLY trust...
cas,
I believe you are correct. At least that is true for me. I happened to be in Denver for this past weekend and went downtown on Satruday afternoon. Unknown to me they held their Veteran's Day parade on Saturday morning. I didn't know it had happened but while strolling 16th later in the day I noticed the town was crawling with GIs. Every one I set eyes on stood tall and looked in proper order. Men and women alike. Above all, as a group, their demeanor says three important things: 1. We serve and we are proud of it 2. You may trust us, so rest easy if you mean us no harm 3. We are fully capable of kicking serious ass and can do so at a moment's notice. Personally, I'd prefer Wal Mart sell more American made stuff and less Made in China stuff, but the business model is unbeatable.
It seems that the DoD and NASA are the only federal programs that have actually accomplished any of the things they set out to do.
