We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
A "tree guy" (PhD) with the Dept of Botany at Cornell told me many, many years ago that sugar maples are "persnickety" and do just as they please unless you purchase specific cultivars. Well, persnickety is half the fun (I did enjoy his choice of words), so we've just planted at whim with some remarkable results in color. Love that tree!
We couldn't get to your neck of the woods this fall but enjoyed roaming the back roads of Michigan last week. There is nothing like the fall season, so many colors, smells, and rituals associated with hunkering down for winter.
