We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
Odd that. Foley was leading by a slim margin this morning at 6 AM with 97% of the votes in. Suddenly by noon, Susan Bysiewicz declares Malloy the winner by 3,200 votes. Uh huh - sure. But, according to Bysiewicz, only 500 votes or so were cast during the two hour extended voting period. Uh huh.
When I read what Susan Bysiewicz has done, I think of another CT Secretary of State: Ella Grasso, who later became the first woman elected governor without any family ties to a previous governor. While Ma Ferguson was elected Governor of TX a half century before Ella was elected Governor in CT, Ma's husband had preceded her in the office.
While Ella was definitely a partisan for her Democratic Party, she was honest. She would not have stood for the like of what has occurred in Bridgeport. I believe that Jasper McLevy, the Socialist but frugal mayor of Bridgeport for 24 years, would also not stood for this.
