We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
Maggiesfarmers ... Here's your report from the center of voter fraud in Texas. After epically bad weather all night, Downs and I staggered over to vote our straight party vote. In spite of the fact that it was still raining, the polling center was packed with folks planning to register their opinions. No New Black Panthers that I could see, and it took surprisingly little time to complete our vote and return gratefully to our nice dry house. We're now going to stop watching the news, and the exit polls and all that until tomorrow morning. Surprise me happily, oh Lord.
Enough already... I'm going to make some nice crockpot beef stew and settle down with a book.
That's where I am, reporting from liberal northern Delaware, where the Christine O'Donnell/Chris Coons saga is in the final stages of unfolding. Her campaign has devastated him, much to the chagrin of the establishment here (and elsewhere).
We also have an anti-establishment Republican up against a former Dem Lt. Governor (career politician) for Delaware's lone seat in the House.
