We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
Love that cartoon, Bird Dog. IIRC. the first President Bush made a similar statement about broccoli, along the lines of "I don't like broccoli, and since I'm the President of the United States, I don't have to eat it."
Went to "Love and War in Texas" the other day... (Its a steakhouse) A place where I tried fried green beans. Wow! Those were great! I liked them so much I have been looking for those huge green beans they used... any body have a clue what they are?
Joe C ... Maybe those "huge green beans" that restaurant used are Kentucky Wonders, a really delicious veggie that was popular back in the 1960s and which, IMHO, beats the heck out of those fancy-pantsy haricot verts that all the chefs are using these days. My Mom used to grow Kentucky Wonders in her backyard veggie garden and they were wonderful.
