Boats are the one hobby I have that could seriously get me into trouble if I allowed it to. Fortunately for me, years of running my own charter operation and doing surveys and sea trials for quite a few years always presented me with a new boat to tinker with on a regular basis.

Here's a picture of my Halman 20 double ender that I restored mechanically, but not to much in the cosmetic department.

Single handing "Lady Liz" off/on the trailer was a major project as was raising the mast and setting her up for a sail. I would have kept her at a marina or open mooring, but there weren't any available for 20 footers - all the space around here is 24 and up and they want an arm and a leg for that - including charging you for the extra four feet which you don't use - which is understandable, but still...

Much to my disappointment, I put her up for sale and quickly sold her to a family in Maine who had just purchased some water front property and had a mooring. I took a little loss on the boat, but it was worth it - the guy appreciated it and his family loved the boat. Still has it in fact.

Ah - I phrased that badly. By it, I meant that I didn't try and squeeze the guy for all the money I put into the boat. I took a small loss on the boat and trailer repairs, but he only had X amount of dollars and I liked his kids - very well behaved and very excited about the boat. :>)

D'Oh!!! I see what you mean. Yes, you are correct - in that sense, I should have used her.

I need new glasses. :>)
