We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
AVI on a kids' mission to paint houses of the poor. These kids should just buy the paint for the poor, and spend the summer painting their own barns and sheds and houses for their parents. Power wash, power sander, coat of primer, coat of lead-based paint.
Paul Krugman has a Northeastern-centric [what a surprise] view on current weather. Yes, the nawtheast has had a hot summer. My portion of TX has had a summer much cooler than the last couple. Last year had 3 months of 100 + degrees. This year, barely above 95. Much of South America has experienced an abnormally cold winter.
This is my favorite Paul Krugman moment: Canadian Health Care. Is there a Nobel Prize in the Damned Fool category? If there were, Dr. Paul would be in the running.
So with 'climate change legislation' we can actually manage the climate via legal mandates? Well that brings up some tricky questions for Mr. Dopey, errr, I mean Krugman:
- Does this legislation work only at the fed level or also state and local?
- If state and local, then what happens when state, local and fed conflict...what weather prevails?
- Can legislation be US centric or does it depend on rest of world legislation?
- What would happen if the north legislated against excessive cold in the winter, the rest of country against excessive heat in the summer, would the whole country end up with San Diego weather?
Climate Change Legislation...sounds so awesome, so effective, why even a caveman would approve.
