Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Curiouser and curiouser

This Sherrod story. I thought I was sick of the story even before it started, but I guess this is a slice of America too. Every country has moonbats but, as Palin would say, these are "sick puppies," determined to live in anger and hatred.

Anyone who tries to pass off Ms. Sherrod as tolerant and non-racially prejudiced is kidding themselves, and disrespecting our intelligence. People like Thomas Sowell and Clarence Thomas are clear-eyed and tolerant. Ms. Sherrod is simply concealing her persistent resentment of 'white folks.'

What got me was the MSM constantly referring to "white farmers" like they were some sort of racist apartheid Afrikaaners. Are they to be wiped out, like those in Zimbabwe?

Coming from a family of long-time "white farmers" on my Dad's side, who never oppressed anyone as far as I can tell, the whole thing I thought was rather creepy.

Sherrod and her husband are in-your-face racists. Of course the Democrat Party apparatus is going to bat for her, but why are Conservative and Republican news and commenters backing away and apologizing? Especially now that Sherrod continues to puke up bigotry and prejudice. James Taranto? Anne Coulter? Ed Morrisey? Any of you want to reconsider your beatification of Saint Shirley the Taken Out of Context?
