We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

The Codavilla essay is a very good one and, seems to me, quite accurate. I have no doubt Richard Fernandez' thoughts on it will be interesting and cogent.
Two comments regarding the theme. One, Thomas Sowell warned us about this 15 years ago in The Vision of the Annointed. Two, Them have fully secured the power to tax and regulate. Taking that power from them will not be bloodless.
So we are back to moderation again? Is that the reason "maggies farm" took so long to load this morning? I thought maybe the government found this site too, ummm, (some)wing to allow to exist on the internets.
It may seem from the media and our spineless pols (the new bunch slightly better) that we Brits have forgotten our responsibilities but it is not so. The great majority of people despite 50 years of socialist sabotage are still decent law abbiding people who know right from wrong but are perhaps too reticent to show hoe unhappy they are.
