Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

It's a state of mind

Thanks, Sipp. I think I am the only person who lives on this lane. The view is perfect, except for the absence of ocean.

Well, you know you can always pretend that the ocean is just over the horizon. Which it is. In a way. :>)

An excellent point, Tom, and it appears you may have tripped ol' BD up.

Carefully examine this statement he made just the other day:

"...you might see the coast of Portugal in the far distance, just over the horizon."

But if you can see it, then it's not "over the horizon", right? So why can't he exercise that same 'farsightedness' he exhibited above to Sipp's location? There's something fishy going on here, but it's hard to pin down without further evidence.

Let's see... Something witty ought to be said about the actual sign. How about,

Nice sign, Bird Dog.
