We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
Leag & Sam. Judging by your comments you are exactly what he is talking about when he says that America is not teaching its children what it means and how much has to be given up to be a real American. Just being born here and having a piece of paper that tells you that you are a citizen does not make you an AMERICAN!
...the issue is you have different values than America was founded on.
Indeed, the founders had no concept of the modern sociological notion of "values" as Dennis Prager uses the term. One may wonder whether Dennis Prager has any idea where that concept of "values" came from? Perhaps from the European professoriat he mentioned earlier in his speech? He would do better, I think, to point said origin out to his audience (and himself), and the extent and manner in which this concept itself varies orthogonally to the political scheme the founders envisioned, is in fact at the heart of the disappearance he rues as he carries the virus to another group. It is a sad spectacle to behold.
