We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
I live in Jersey an Lonegan is correct. Suburban property taxes are skyrocketing as each suburban town continues to send millions upon millions to the 14 failed Abott school districts (Newark, Camden, Jersey City ect...) while having to fund their own schools from property taxes. Jersey is a joke that will collapse faster than Greece in the coming years.
To be fair to Christie, there is only so much that can be accomplished politically.
The Governor is cutting all the school aid to the suburban and rural districts, but boosting it for the cities, plus he's increasing food stamps and welfare. My taxes in Brick are up $1800 this year. With conservatives like Christie, who needs liberals.
Agreed, however, Christie cutting aid to suburban and rural towns is what is driving a massive increase in property taxes state wide this year. He refuses to confront the school funding formula that the State Supreme Court ordered. Until someone stands up to the State Supreme Court and the idiotic Abott decision there will never be real tax relief in NJ. As Andrew Jackson said of John Marshall: "John Marshall has made his decision, now let him enforce it!" That's what the Governer should be saying about our court.
