We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Democrats Avoid Democracy

New York Times: "To Avoid Voter Rage, Democrats Skip Town Halls"



Of the 255 Democrats who make up the majority in the House, only a handful held town-hall-style forums as legislators spent last week at home in their districts.


It was no scheduling accident.


With images of overheated, finger-waving crowds still seared into their minds from the discontent of last August, many Democrats heeded the advice of party leaders and tried to avoid unscripted question-and-answer sessions.



Ain't Democrats' democracy something!

Bruce ... And these cowards are running our country? These folks are the product of several generations of 'feel-good' primary and secondary education in this country. No teacher ever said to them, "No, Johnny, that's the wrong answer. Two and two are not five. Try again." When you protect a child from knowing he's wrong at times, he'll grow up never knowing right from wrong.

And then, of course, he'll become a politician.

How sad. We used to have a government "of the people, by the people, and for the people". No longer, it appears.

The article mentioned does take it's obligatory swipe at the Tea Party as well.

No mention by anyone about how the Republican party is doing it's Town Hall meetings...

Unfortunately for the Dems, there is an unavoidable democratic event scheduled for November. It is shaping up to be a party-destroying train wreck.
