We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
Imagine if Ms. Romer had instead promised in 2009 that Congress could spend nearly $1 trillion, and 16 months later the unemployment rate would be nearly 10% and that more than 2.5 million additional Americans would be without jobs. Would Congress have still spent the cash? Well, sure, Congress will always spend what it can get away with, but the American public would have turned against the stimulus even faster than it has.
Deputy Prime Minister Bulent Arinc said all deals with Israel are being evaluated.
"We are serious on this issue. New cooperation will not start and relations with Israel will be reduced," he said.
Energy Minister Taner Yildiz has said discussions about extending a Russian natural gas pipeline to Israel and providing fresh drinking water to Israel from the Manavgat river were being shelved.
The pro-Palestinian activists' deaths on the aid ship increased tensions in the Mideast, especially with Turkey, an important ally of Israel. On Thursday, Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan called Israel's actions "a historic mistake."
More sad stuff about Turkey, at Shrinkwrapped, who is interested in Islamic use of language. - especially hyperbole.
For those of you who are waking up a little slow to the "border situation" I would like to suggest that for years now the dems have been determined that America's border with Mexico should be managed no differently than the French border with Germany, or the Swedish border with Denmark, etc. OPEN BORDERS philosophy is not just being put in place in Europe it is intended to become a part of our lives here in the US--OPEN means no obstacles to moving to /fro. Of course our leadership is too stupid and too cowardly to understand that the Mexican overpopulation problem, their lack of education, their lack of infrastructure, etc. makes the open border policy unmanageable here in the states. They get a bumpersticker stuck on their ass and they can't seem to get rid of it--no matter how many new cars they buy!!
Might want to look up the Naturalization Act of 1790, two years residence, free, white, good moral character and an oath of allegiance was all that was required. Looks like walking off the boat was all that was required of immigrants.
