Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

That's a French poodle butt, they are typically hard-working. Nice yard sculpture in the background.

As far as the poodle is concerned, I'll hazard a guess that it's an 'apricot' colored standard poodle, although having to haul that big a$$ tractor has made it a little paler than usual.

As long as the equipment generally got the job done... It's that 'Good Old Gal'. Except for thew time it was quite contrary and the words were blurred. I can't imagine Bird Dog shouting those words at the top of his lungs.

Well, since BD has not graced us with an answer to his question, I'm guessing that there is some kind of weird bird in the background that nobody can see or indentify.

Where is the distributor? On the front or side of the engine? Where is the throttle lever, close by the steering wheel or on the right below it somewhat?

Whatever model it is it does show one feature I don't see that often - she's got new rubber on 'er.

It's mid-late 50's ford 8-N. Complete with inadequate brakes and no live power means the brush hog makes a good flywheel for pushing the tractor forward at the least opportune moments. I think Dad most often called his the "damned Ford tractor". You cannot imagine how many hours I've spent in a seat just like that.

a fordson (as we called them out here, sort of a diminutive) most likely, with a brush chopper on the 3-point hitch driven by the integral pto.

looks like an odd breed sheep's butt to me. a little long in hank, but they are stretching & thinning the carcasses on almost everything. am assuming the front of it it "waaayyyy" ugly, and the computer cropped it automatically.

It's a Ford 8 N tractor, built, I think in 1949. We have one at our small spread in Texas and it is still in working order.
