Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

Donald Trump's new Miss USA may have Muslim family and be of Arab descent, but she does not seem to be a Muslim. She has attended Catholic schools and she surely doesn't follow a Muslim lifestyle. Her participation in the contest is much farther from Muslim teaching than is the participation of a Christian woman.
No doubt the boys at Maggie's are panting for Missy Rima the Muhammadan slut.
Maybe, when yall convert, yall can have a turn at her. Miss USA is a great disappointment. There must be some virtuous young women left but they get passed over in the Miss USA vote. Perhaps, Missy Rima may team up with Missy Bristol for a Tolerate the Sluts Tour. Too bad, so sad. Leag ... Obviously, you don't get around in the right circles. You say "there must be some virtuous young women left but they get passed over in the Miss USA vote." The problem is not whether they are virtuous or not, but whether they have depended on their looks to win them what they want, rather than their brains. There are many young women in our country who have both beauty and brains, although if they do, they tend to forge ahead as achievers rather than using their looks to win them what they want.
You should feel sympathy for these poor beautiful young things in beauty contests, who have only their looks to win them approval. Beauty is a fleeting thing. Brains can last a lifetime, long after beauty fades. My husband and I watched a movie the other night on this very subject -- Miss Congeniality, with Sandra Bullock. It's an entertaining bit of fluff, with a smart heroine, and a wonderful portrayal of a beauty contest grooming expert by Michael Caine. You might enjoy it. [Michael Caine adds class to any film in which he appears.] I think the 'beauty pageant' as such is on a death spiral, an entertaining artifact left over from the 1930s. It's been proven over and over since then that women can be both beautiful and brainy. Ask Bird Dog. Or Neptunus Lex. Or jappy. All of them have brainy beauties in their own families. And those are only the ones I've seen pictures of. Many other Maggiesfarmers are blessed with talented and beautiful family members. They just don't have time to compete in beauty pageants. Marianne Miss Marianne,
Thanks for the response. I still hold hope that there is some virtuous Contestants but slutty seems to be all the rage. I don't watch those contests but did catch the news to the winner and wasn't surprised to find Junkie crying for more. Sympathy I don't feel though yall think I should but I do pity. Is that close enough? I enjoy Sandra And Michael and will try to see Miss Congeniality at yall's request. Maggie's boys may have some beautiful, brainy daughters but I need look no further than me own to be a believer in the existence of one virtuous. She doesn't do beauty pageants either but is making her way in this world quite well. I suppose, she could win the single mom over 40 pageant hands down and lay odds I'd be watching. Peace to yall. "Less Than One-Third of US Meteorologists Believe In Manmade Global Warming"
Never have. Modern Chaos Theory aka "The Butterfly Effect" was kick-started by a meteorologist, Lorenz, who noticed odd reesults from his computer model and after some experimentation concluded that short of gdh@d no model could succeed at predicting climate. Ah, Greece gloms onto the cause of action we used to call "tortious lending" here in the States!
And all I wanted to do was laugh at that picture of the braniac who could thread 9 dual bulb sockets together to make a trailer trash chandelier!
I bet he was trying to make warm light like the old incandescent bulbs do --and thought if only i add enough of these curlycues, maybe i won't feeling like cutting my wrists under their sickly asylum pallor.
there was a Tom Hanks movie long ago, named of "Joe and the Volcano" --which had a great riff on fluorescent light --too hard to explain, ya hadda see it -- I should not laugh I suppose.... I used two of those 6 lamp vanity strips to replace the two 6 foot 40 watt florescent bulbs in the master bath. I installed those curlycue bulbs of various color temperature and watt-ages. I have really nice WHITE light (not too blue, not too yellow) coming from the light box. (The light box is recessed into the soffit over the sink.)
I read somewhere of a company doing something similar with LED bulbs.... that of combining various color LEDs bulbs to provide the most neutral white light. So maybe, rather than cast aspersions on the trailer trash engineer, I should cast kudo's for being a forward thinker, eh? well, i think so --he's pushing the envelope for ALL of us, isn't he. But i have heard that the curlies are getting better at emulating warm glow incandescent --guess i'll try 'em again.
I gotta agree with Kinsley on is one. Where the the new drugs-- not at 'tea parties' which have somehow taken on an entirely different meaning from a 1960s 'tea party?' Whee are the days of rage and battles with the oppressive representatives of the state? Where are the burned out cities? Where are the cop shootings and assassinations, both real and fantasized? Where are the chants like 'hey hey LBJ....'
The tea par tiers don't hate like the 60s protestors, that's for sure. |
