Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

i sent the Claire Berlinski link to JR Nyquist (it's in his area of interest). He was gracious enough to answer, saying "I'm a big fan of Claire. Have had her on my show at least three times. She is brilliant and her books are among those that are most worth reading today. I am so glad she has turned her attention to this subject."

what she recounts re EU officials is stunning. Especially to anyone who might have watched the Glenn Beck show today.

Beck has gotten 'round to the year 1988, when Maurice Strong started up the IPCC and he and Al Gore started up Molten Metals Technologies, and Kyoto and Gorbachev and Soros and Davos, and exactly what has been going on behind the shadow elites' guiding of western sovereign financial systems into debt-collapse --see Greece and now soon Spain and perhaps England into financial collapse --and on his latest show he speculates why, and what it portends --and he's naming names.

The Berlinski piece contains another part of that puzzle, a significant part.

Beck rebroadcasts late tonight --i urge you to watch or have someone tivo it or something. Getting into the meat of the thing he is. Good --it's vital info, difficult, frightening, and vital.

Have to vigorously disagree with Moran.

Bennet's conservative voting rating has dipped to 55 the last couple of years.

His daddy was a senator and he has served three terms. He is the archetypal Washington insider.

I think his scalp is a victory for the Tea Party movement.

But Bennet may not go quietly. I am reading he is considering running as an independent. Rick should be pleased as he knows better than the rubes who should be running for Senate from Utah.

Regarding the required diversity class:

I just finished a sociology class at a community college. The bulk of the class material is a paean to liberal thought. We learned that the elites oppress the underclass as a matter of course. The highpoint was the introduction of the notion of "white privilege" as fact, along with a heavy hint for the class to attend an evening lecture on same by an author who specializes in that topic (he's white and liberal, of course). As if being burdened with original sin wasn't enough, now I'm guilty of an accident of birth. Nowhere is this concept mentioned in the textbook. The teacher likes to throw these little things in to show how progressive she is. Don't mention Sarah Palin or John Stossel in her class, either!

Good to know my tax dollars are going for a worthwhile purpose.

That grievance attitude being a sort of parasite living in the fat of the land, expect in the post cheap-energy era we'll be seeing less instruction in it and more instruction in the skilled trades.

fiftyville ... I read recently on some internet site, that any college course that is described as a "studies" course -- you know, gender studies, African studies, women's studies, diversity studies, and on and on -- tends to be a listing of grievances enjoyed by the instructor or professor, clustered around the ostensible subject of the "studies" designated in the title.

This, of course, so inflects the subject of the "studies", that the course is virtually useless as a source of objective information.

As a learning source for hard information the course will be a waste of time, but it supplies the instructor with a place to vent, and allows the more wily of the students in the class to get a high grade by simply parroting back to the instructor his or her own prejudices.

There are, however, only so many hours in a school day. And to waste them on such a compromised source of information means that the students have less time to learn objective information which might actually help them in their future struggles to achieve success in the real world.

Rick Moran forgets there are lies, damn lies and statistics. Bob Bennett was the 8th most liberal senator from the most conservative state in the nation. Rick, are you that stupid, really?

Bob Bennett has been ensconced in Washington as the entire banking and housing industries have come unraveled. Oh, and look, there's Bob Bennett exercising his prodigious seniority powers on the Senate Banking Committee to do, what? If those that are in charge of watching the hen house can't be trusted what would you do Rick Moran?

His seniority don't mean dick. He is either complicit or incompetent. Either way he's gone. Hatch is next.

BTW...Bennett was dead last out of 4 candidates. Let him run an independent campaign.

Come on folks, I can't believe you think that the "Totalitarian Video" is real. It is nothing but a spoof. I would love to see the background especially since it was done on 07.
