Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

They didn't just 'forget' Fan & fred --they've also arranged for cheaper money for the favored institutions --making community banks less competitive. Fifty basis points, most think it will wring out as.
Suppressing and distorting the benefits of CO2 is not just evil, as politics and politicos frequently are, it's a demonstration that those folks who are doing the suppressing and distorting are not scientists. They are propagandists for a socialistic government which wishes to take more and more individual freedoms away from us citizens and use those stolen freedoms to rule us.
As almost all who read maggiesfarm know, CO2 is not a pollutant. It's an essential gas which keeps our planet healthy. It is an essential fertilizer for all plants, from trees to all food crops. Eliminate it from the atmosphere, as those crazy folks would like to do, and you'll be living in a barren sandbox, for the few hours or days of time you will have left. If we had science teachers in high school as we used to have, the general American public would know this. But more and more of our children's school study time is being devoted by their teachers to politicized propaganda, leaving less and less school time for training in the hard sciences, mathematics and, [God save the mark!] English grammar. A person who cannot express himself/herself correctly and articulately, cannot think clearly. And that means we will have an ever-increasing number of citizens who can't distinguish truth from falsehood, right from wrong. Marianne For some scary "thwack-on-the-side-of-the-head" about our financial crisis, google William K. Black, who led the investigation into the S & L crisis and is now testifying on the latest meltdown. Summary: F-R-A-U-D. And it's fraud blessed by both the Republicans and the Democrats. It's the Beltway on steroids. Yer right, Buddy, Freddie and Fannie are no "oversight" and all those community banks are just a pain in the a## to regulate, especially when you have forced them to offer Liar's Loans. Up their ante.
As for amnesty and the new Arizona law on illegals, google David Schippers, the Democrat who was appointed to manage the impeachment of Bill Clinton and also found that Al Gore instigated the fast-track legalization of thousands of aliens who were ineligible for citizenship because of criminal backgrounds. However, the Dems needed those votes to beat Bush. Google. No wonder the big guys want to control the individual's access to the Internet and its content. Of course environmentalism is a religion. It's called animism. It's the religion of stone age natives in New Guinea and liberals.
As far as Obamacare is concerned, it presents a bleak outlook for us all, if the "efficiency" of another government-run healthcare system is any harbinger. A story is floating around in the Internet today about a decorated Iraqi War veteran, now disabled, who filed a claim with the Roanoke VA for fibromyalgia, [an arthritis-like disorder] and received a letter saying that the VA was considering his claim for menstrual difficulties.
What can we look forward to from now on, if the government agencies can't tell the difference between males and females? Do government agencies automatically hire the bottom 10% of graduating classes? I fear for all of us. Marianne jma, I do like William Black's commentary --it's honest and outraged, in the vein of another clean-up hitter (head of FDIC in 80s, a major success in the S&L cleanup) who is now free to talk, Bill Isaac.
If you search [ William Isaac ], on the searcher's 'web' tab you'll see his big articles in WaPo & WSJ from late 08 early 09. Under the 'news' tab see his latest pronunciamentos on the finreg in front of us. (BTW, looks like O Snow may bail and 'be' the '60' --i'm nauseated, words cannot express.) finreg's damage will be as much in the breach as in in the actual. Rotten bills fill the space where the proper one IS needed. Could that be the bizarrO world purpose of the tRyrant and his cuort? As with the rotten bills, so too the rotten agencies are acting like door gunsels outside Mob HQ. An SEC not only not policing but crucially occupying the space of any REAL police --so that no one else could function --is where the real damage is. No wonder SEC upper management was surfing the web all day --when your job is to block rather than fill a channel, what do you do to pass the time? Whittle and try not to miss the spittoon? That the pastime went to porn instead of something not run by organized crime (the guy with the office full of porn discs WAS probably doing research for the mob) is just frosting on the crap cake. SEC remember so instrumental the three big rule changes changes in 2007 that so facilitated the September Panic 0f 08: 3] leverage (bump 12 to 40? why not 12 (with its 60 years success) to 20 for awhile, just to be fiduciarily proper? Only answer to that is that panic and downside velocity at the proper time (say in June, when Schumer the Schemer kicked off the Indymac 'run'), were desired). 2] uptic rule, again a many-decades-old success thrown away on specious clerical/procedure grounds (think thermonuclear ICBMs to kill a gnat), which oddly (ha!) worked evil magic in the Week of Naked Shorting --the "September Panic" which dropped the big bank stocks by 70%, killing middle class retirements, making Croesus of dark-fund shorts and vulture-longs --and crucially handing banking control to the same people who set the whole thing up in the first place. 1] Mark-to-market --jeez, i got to keep it short -- just another decades-old success tossed aside just in time for the Crisis to force banking into daily paper bankruptcy (Isaac says the one-year wastage cost, until the March 2009 tweak, starts at a half trillion dollars, hard), into technical jungle and into the arms of the federal government. (3-2-1 listed in 'countdown mode for a distinct, or dis stinked, reason!) New rules almost inexplicable in terms of the nonsense 'official' explanations for them, but entirely critical to achieve the 'stampede effect' in front of an election where the idea was to not only win, but to do so with a disaster at hand grave enough to scatter the anti-communist opposition. I could go on for ever and ever. Feh. Blah. "November or Bust!" - Thanks, Buddy! Now I have an expanded reading list.
I try to stay away from the Sunday morn pundits as they only raise my blood pressure, but did watch Dodd today. I know he's retiring, but why is this guy even at the table? He a fox in the hen house. Just what we need: another 2,000-page doc that nobody will read nor understand. BTW, feel free to go on "forever and ever." And, yes...Nov. Forgot to agree on your 3-2-1. It's Rahmbo Emanuel's "waste no crisis" OR if there is no crisis, create one.
Thanks for kind words, jma. yes, 'management-by-crisis' compels crisis --without crisis, there's no need for 'change', without 'change' the country'd stay free and happy and Constitutional, without hate, misery, and anger tyrants can't take over.
Lenin said it best: "worse is better". They will always destroy --the trick is to keep their numbers low enough that the sea doesn't change. That's where we went wrong --we quit the meme war. Or just lost it, 2000-2008. Their numbers --the rads --just got a little bit too high, and once these birds have the offices, if their goal is destruction, we're on a whole different planet. Ahhhh..Buddy. I see. I see.

OK. I give. Uncle. That is...so...
Actually, since our last post, spent time with three guys going down. In my neighborhood, it's easy to track the market. Repo trailers line up to collect on the traders that have done wrong. Well, quiz on Friday, don't forget. Hate to have to send a note home.
