We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
There is no such as thing as behavior that will preserve a democracy. Every democracy in history (not Democratic Republics) has quickly self-destructed. That is why our Founders rejected democracy and created a republic.
Of course, we are far more sedate in our presentation, as you know.

Ok then..."is republican behavior that which republics like to engage in, or is it behavior that will preserve republicanism?"
So how's the republic working out for you? Did you manage to keep it?
Individual liberty and responsibility go hand in hand. One cannot exist without the other. Liberty without responsibility results in...dare I say it....democracy...where only might can make right and the irrational mob will rule.
What type of behavior will preserve a republic? The adult kind...honesty, thrift, reverence, respect, loyalty, duty..self restraint...all the things the U.S. lacks in most quarters..no matter what you call it....welcome to Disneyland..all your dreams can come true...that's about all you have left.
