We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
I did know the answer thanks to playing the computer game Hearts of Iron, a WWII grand strategy/resource management game.
What I didn't know was that 1.7 million lived there.
Do you suppose that if people from 100-150 years ago were brought back, that they would stand in awe at the numbers of people living in desert cities like Sana, or Phoenix or Los Angeles, given the scarcity of local water supplies?
FWIW, I have come across Sana being used as both a male and female name. The female was Pakistani, and was thus named by parents who were not native Arab speakers.
About 2 years ago, the Sana airport was host to my first experience with a traditional Arab (meaning squat). toilet Unfortunately, I had a bad intestinal virus that day. It was not pretty and I truly felt sorry for whoever went in after me.
