We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
Actually, friends, I wouldn't give him that generous a grade. First thing I want to know, is how he defines "reform." That's crucial. The national teachers' union is even more liberal than the mainstream media, and we know how Left they are.
By the way, Bruce, I hear that there was just a 6.9 shaker on the Mexican/U.S. border. Hope you and yours are O.K.
They've had their mitts in it since they started passing out surplus food (mostly milk) to school kids, then upped participation when the Russians beat them at the space program in the late 50's, increased the science and math component under Kennedy and grew an even bigger monster with Head Start in the mid-60's. Now it's just continuous creep to federalization.
All's fine in San Diego. Thanks for asking. Just a low vibration for about 20 seconds. Of course, media is making a big thing of it on a slow news Easter Sunday.
The epicenter is south of Mexicali, about 100+ miles away, in a low populated area. Some loss of power, and maybe a few adobe structures damaged, so far reported, but little reported as the media concentrate on foolish statements from San Diego or L.A.
