Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Obama isn't really opening any drilling..he's just giving the go ahead on "exploration". I think Clinton did that for ANWAR, are we drilling there yet?...He knows he has the EPA and environmentalists running cover for him. This seems to be his SOP. .i.e. "I tried, but darn those regulations."
I think he's doning this to once again try to con people into thinking.."hmm..maybe he IS moving to the center".
I don't buy it.

Dale ... Good for you for pointing out that 'exploration' is a whole 'nother thing than 'oil production.' In the history of the oil industry, one finds a lot more exploration for oil and gas than production of oil and gas. Got to figure out what's there before you can produce it. I'll grant that Obama wants us to produce more oil and gas domestically when he allows us to produce more already proven reserves. We already have huge proven reserves of natural gas and oil in the Barnett shale field [Texas and Oklahoma] and an even bigger shale field in the Pennsylvania area. If he were sincere, he would make an executive order permitting the development of both areas.

But he won't. He's just "showboating."

What? You say Obama is promoting drilling? Oh, OK then. He's a genius and a visionary who will save America. Nothing to see here. Move along....
