Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Actually, whenever folks like Lovelock make such statements (another example is the odious Thomas L. Friedman), they make my blogging routine so much easier.

Since they've now succinctly exposed their core political impulses, I never have to bother reading a thing they have to say ever again.

Democracy is such a loser system. The Climate Duces can follow in the footsteps of the efficient dictators of the past. Which is why we all speak German and live in a Soviet Republic and why North Korea is much more green than South Korea. (Ok, that last one's true. In North Korea people eat grass and live in the cold an dark, just as Greens want us to.)

Lovelock is apparently unfamiliar with the history of the 20th century. Where'd he go to school anyway?

If humans are too stupid to rule, exactly which race does he want to lord over us? Kanamits?

Lovelock said a lot of very sane things in that interview.

Too bad he slipped into the elitism that always wants to restrict freedom.

He wishes that an elite - scientists this time - not be annoyed while they build a better world for everyone.

If he got his wish the new rulers first step would be to purge scientists who didn't deserve to be elites.

Some elitists is more elitists than others.
