We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
"We are on our way, there is absolutely no chance we are not going to end up with national health care."
And Krauthammer said our system will soon look like the one in the United Kingdom and in Canada.
"This is nationalizing health care, the insurance companies are now utilities, they are contractors," Krauthammer said. the government makes all of these decisions, only a matter of time and will probably happen after the Obama administration. But he will be remembered as the father of national health care as they have in Canada or Britain and it starts tonight.
I just got caught up on my reading from the weekend. With regard to the next great generation, I think it's going to take the best of the last two generations to make change in this country if we are going to survive. Putting the genie back in the bottle after running amuck for the past 40 years will be extremely difficult, but not impossible.
One thing we have to learn if we are serious about winning this battle, and this will be hard for a lot of people to understand is we have to play just as dirty as our enemies, maybe a lot worse. That decision has to be made at the individual level. We now have to fight as if our lives are at stake.
Somewhere along the way someone is going to recognize that many of the economic problems facing our country are due to our lack of savings. Of course, it is hard to save when taxes and inflation are high, questionable to save when you are taxed two and three times on investments and stressful to save when you cannot predict how our politicians will take away your hard-earned savings to redistribute it to those who have not bothered putting a few bucks aside.
It's a funny thing. If I want to purchase a health-insurance policy that is offered in a state other than one where I live or work, I don't have the option to do so, because of state regulations.
There is no constitutional reason why the federal government could not insist that such restrictions are preempted under the interstate commerce clause, but they have not so far done so.
It seems to me that if health insurance is now regulated under the commerce clause, then I should now be able to choose from any policy offered in any US state or territory.
Amen, Jappy. If we don't just lie down before the Progs, we are headed for massive civil disobedience, outright resistance, confrontation, rebellion, the ladder of escalation....defeat, overthrow the Prog government by whatever means necessary, a government now governing without the consent of the governed, indeed, in defiance of the governed.
His Hopeful Changeness had a father who seduced a young woman and, apparently, married her when she was well along. He abandoned her and his son soon after he was born.
If Obama is the father of national health care, he's done just about the same thing.
