We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

We fought this bill so vigorously because we have studied government health care in other countries, and the results include much higher taxes, slower economic growth and worse medical care. As for the politics, the first verdict arrives in November.

This country's inability to address runaway entitlement spending has left us with nearly $108 trillion in unfunded liabilities. These are promises the government cannot possibly meet but there is no political will to tell Americans they can't have their ice cream. Now we're about to dramatically expand the role of government at the very moment in time when we should be shrinking it.

It's mortifying.

Life is hard enough. Now with the pack of idiots who passed the Health Care Bill, it will just get harder and harder and harder. The government will not be issuing K-Y Jelly with this bill in order for Americans to accept this without pain as they ram it up our rears.

As we sit in our pile of ashes reflecting on what has transpired, we can see that this has been less a victory for Leftists than an affirmation of their countless victories over the years. Had we elected the pitiful John McCain, he would have strung it out further by allowing the Left to insinuate itself further into all segments of American life through regulations. This is it, Obama will swiftly shove more and more of his nonsense on us until or unless we put a stop to it.

Verifiably conservative candidates must win in November, 2010. Leftist Chairs must be removed from all committees. Impeachment proceedings must begin for those most worthy, conviction for the most deserving, and removal from office.

That should provide us with a decent start.

After surviving four years of Carter I thought we could survive four years of any president. Now I'm not so sure. Any states that have recall provisions for their representatives should get the petitions started.

Has the ultimate gauntlet finally been thrown down by the so-called Progressives/Oppressives? This government no longer has the consent of the governed. We have 1770-1776, and 1858-1861, as precedents for response....what will happen next in this Progressive-provoked Constitutional Crisis? I don't believe that the majority of Americans will roll over for this latest naked power grab- is this the final straw which has been a long time coming?

A constitutional spending amendment has been proposed. There are most likely a sufficient number of states to ratify such an amendment. I see that as the best opportunity to put an end to this profligate spending once and for all.

If there's one small silver lining, it's that we're rarely going to see another bright and clear line between the Democrats Big Government approach and the Republicans slightly-smaller government. They own this mess, forever.
