Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

Sunday, March 21. 2010Healthcare Bill Will Stir The Next Greatest GenerationOur fathers and mothers, or grandfathers and grandmothers, were the “greatest generation” that took the world back from tyranny in WWII and from poverty after. Ask them, and they were just doing what was right. Those who served in Now, three generations who just did what was right will be joining with the next generation to just do what’s right. Together, in the chilling dawn of the wake-up call that is the bankrupting powergrab sham that is ObamaCare and the sliming of integrity with which it has been pressed, with the abandonment of allies and the kowtowing to foes, the heavy prices will fall most upon them along with the rest of us. “Damn Dems” will be the next greatest generation’s battle cry. A cross-generational battle cry. BTW
This reminds me of this: It's not over 'til we say so.

the Stupak payoff?
Dated 3/19/10, announces $726K for three airports in his district. Seems ol' Stupie is a cheap date. http://www.house.gov/apps/list/speech/mi01_stupak/morenews/20100319faagrant.html O-R-G-A-N-I-Z-E
ORGANIZE!! ORGANIZE Do ya think that is what has to happen next? Who is gonna do it--the folks running Tea Parties are light years behind the organizers who put together Obama and Acorn, etc. Oh--I remember a bunch of folks are gonna stand around and cry about "abortion". Yup that's gonna do it alright. When the heck are you people gonna understand fighting against abortion should have been organized forty years ago. You lost (LOST) that one. Now let's see if you can loose the rest of the country standing around crying out against abortion. SHUT THE #####up about abortion and get on to the greater issues at stake here tonight and tomorrow, and the next day. . . I hope you are right. But I fear you are wrong.
I don't mean to be a downer but I'm just devastated. We are going off to the great good night. I'm just sorry that we frittered away our greatness so quickly. I'm just sick. I can't believe what we've just done. Deana –the opening night of “Up Yours!”, the hot new dark comedy new one act dark farce scripted by the N-famous hot do-O of Genovese & Gambino and starring Been Nelson & Bark Stupak, opened toNITE to repetered rawcuss audience applesause, in DC’s recently enervated Little House of Whorers!
We didn't do it, Deana. We older folks [I'm 81] have fought against socialism and big government all of our lives. My generation fought and won the Second World War. We loved our beautiful exceptional America. We didn't forget the lessons of the 1930s ... that "there ain't no free lunch", that "the Lord helps those who help themselves", that "you can accomplish almost anything as long as you don't want the credit for it." Most of all, "that a government big enough to give you anything you want, is big enough to take away everything you have."
You're watching that right now. Now, what are we going to do about it? Marianne "Now, what are we going to do about it?"
Well, you might start by going back 4 or 5 decades and getting rid of the lobbying department of the AARP. But since that's not possible, how about we start by not pointing out how much "we" did to prevent this in the past, as if this is a sudden creation out-of-the-blue, and not the inevitable consequence of principles acted upon and entitlements demanded for decades. MM, I'm gonna start now puttng out more November election cash --Stupak's oppo first
--not quite Travis at the Alamo but i'm befuddled. Didja see Boehner's statement? if not, please do: http://www.breitbart.tv/hell-no-boehner-makes-impassioned-statement-on-house-floor/ MM: I have a suggestion. Not only was today a big media/vote day. There was another event that provides an even clearer indication of the type of animals we have put in charge. During the days leading up to this vote their "organizers" were very efficient in putting together the invasion of DC by illegal aliens. This was a clear threat to all of us who opposed the take over of health care. It clearly was intended to frighten; to threaten; to bully. Let's not forget that Rohm Emanuel studied with the Mossad! I know what we could do to reclaim our country, we could organize a demonstration against 12 million illegal voters. Oh dear that gets us back to the subject of who is going to do the organizing? Aww shucks they are just gonna call us ugly names anyhow--why bother?
Oh, I know we can protest abortion again--that always works! well, the left has managed to politicize everything now --Clinton started it in earnest --with his myriad scandals politicizing right and wrong and the rule of law and finally justice herself.
And now his heirs have finally managed to politicized raw stupidity (it's ''good'') and with that, have politicized politicizing itself (''might is not only right, nothing else is beautiful like me''). Marxism, parasite on the energy in words themselves, fat and heavy in the Age of Communication, engorges itself blindly on the future. Dan Benisheck is Stupak's opponent in November...
His facebook page is OFF THE CHARTS right now!!! He's got 11+K people that joined him...probably had les than 500 yesterday... http://www.facebook.com/group.php?v=wall&ref=share&gid=287806148754 cnredd Political Wrinkles politicalwrinkles.com Boehner rocked! Paul Ryan rocked! Mike Pence rocked!
Republicans might be in ill favor among some, but I'm proud of those guys. Any Dem, not at all. I agree entirely with the sentiment of this post. The Democrats' victory tonight is a pyrrhic one.
I've been thinking about this formulation for months now: the biggest enemy of the welfare state is the welfare state itself. It's true that no federal entitlement program has ever been repealed. But the country has never been at such a tipping point before. The real worry is not that this new entitlement won't be able to be repealed, but that it will without question bankrupt the country. The US may have to go bankrupt first, but I cannot see how the welfare state can possibly survive other than in name. E.g., what good is a new Social Security building for thousands of new government bureaucrats, *if there's no money for Social Security checks for them to send out*? Also, there is the matter of culture. There are just too many states that reject the left's vision for the country. For example, do you really think Texas, Colorado, Kentucky, and Indiana will knuckle under, give up their rights one by one, and turn into the Netherlands? Frankly, I see states seceding from the Union before that happens. I think what the Democrats are doing will destroy the welfare state. Destroy it literally, and thus destroy it in people's minds as a model for sound governance. Rep. Paul Ryan has already come up with a detailed alternative to the leftists' socialist state. Not many people know it exists, but that could change soon, and the statists know it. They are rushing like maniacs, because reality is nipping at their heels. Americans are only getting angrier, but you ain't seen nothin' yet -- wait till the USA's credit rating gets downgraded, or the price of oil spikes and Obama still won't drill here, drill now, etc. So I'm with Bruce. In my opinion, this is not the end, it is merely the end of the beginning. ... while we're all whining and wringing our hands, the Dems are preparing to bring the immigration amnesty bill out of mothballs, and pass it this summer.
Just in time to mint millions of new Latino voters who are almost guaranteed to vote Democrat. Lovers of liberty are being outfoxed. Goodbye USA, hello USSA. This train has been slowly arriving since the 1930s, and now it's at the station. Next on tap Amnesty for Illegal Aliens, healthcare for Illegal Aliens, and the onerous taxes for the junk science of Cap and Trade... then onto the single payer payer system after all insurance companies go under. What say you to that, comrade?
March 21, 2010. The day America died.
Keep dreaming. The next generation is either destined to be a coddled, dependent bunch of leftist constituents or the few ambitious among them will flee this socialist tax trap to freer shores.
Farewell USSA will be our motto. All you Eyeore-whiners about America's death need to clam up and put that energy somewhere useful.
The one thing that will ensure the death of American exceptionalism is if Americans quit in the face of long odds. Bullshit. The bright and shining ideals on which this country was founded have not died. They will never die. And far too many good men and women have laid their lives on the line defending those ideals for us to turn our backs on them now. Take a deep breath. Say a prayer. Refuel. Then start talking to your kids. Challenge them to think like free people. Branch out from there. We have tools now that were inconceivable just a decade ago. USE THEM. Read the Declaration of Independence. The Federalist Papers. The Constitution. Hell, MEMORIZE some of our founding documents--they are precisely the ammunition we need in this war. This fight isn't over--it's only just begun. Most of us (myself most definitely included) have been lax and lazy, blinded by our own petty concerns. That must end. Stand up! Fight for your country. Thank you #16. I also ask that you pray fellow Americans. Pray to God for his help and guidance in this war against our liberty as our forefathers did in the original American Revolution. Return to your roots. Recognize God and his power. Through God all things are possible. Thank you and may God bless you and our great country.
I'm down w/14.1 - the next generation will believe like the current Dems that they're entitled to opm and that it's other people's responsibilitiy to pay their bills and that wage earners are their ATM. When there are fewer earners they'll just figure they have to take more from them.
"From every adversity, comes with the seed of an equivalent or greater benefit" Napoleon Hill.
Jimmy gave us Ron, Obama will give us something much better. Dam Dems will become Dam Dems who? The tide has turned and it will be a slow tide rising. The tide of time is now on our side. When the people awake to find no insurance, no doctors, no hospitals, no medications, no retirement pensions, but only bureaucrats with negative attitudes, there will be a revolution. Each election year will be better than the one prior. I pray the revolution is at the ballot box and not on the battle field. Thank you Bruce for these encouraging words. I'm a mom of three, and I've felt stretched thin by all my work with school and home and pitching in to help the Tea Party. But I feel more than ever that it's time to keep going.
I was at the rally against Obamacare at GMU last Friday. The nicest part was being with a lot of smart women and smart men. I know we can do this together. Your sentiment re: HCR being the trigger to the creation of a "Greatest Generation II" is heartening, and we have no choice unless we want to descend into dependency, but it is sobering to realize that we have similar trials ahead. Maybe not as violent, but trials nonetheless.
Despite the internet I have observed that the Leftist Media are still powerful when it comes to defining the issues and the Opposition Platform. For months they ignored the Tea Party movement until they came up with the Tea Bagger insult. Then they included the Truthers, the Birthers and the Seperatists. We looked like a bunch of kooks. Here in
Texas they tried to make Debra Medina look like the Tea Party candidate, even though our Tea Party hadn't endorsed anyone and she turned out to be a Truther. Even seemingly intelligent fall for this as evidenced by Apple Pie's remark about abortion. Abortion is not a Tea Party issue. Ours is not a social agenda, mostly we are driven by a desire to see less government and more adherence to the Constitution. Most of the people I come in contact with are happy to be fed their daily dose of groupthink by their local news and CNN. Our newspaper actively campaigns for Democrats and Obama. I don't know how we fight these people, but we can't give up. If we allow this to become the problem of the next generation it will be too late. Debra Medina is not a truther. I expect we will continue to hear from her. She just did a BBC interview in fact. It is true the Teaparty movement doesn't generally endorse candidates, Debra spoke at more Teaparty rallies than any other candidate, and that is why she was given the label of "teaparty candidate".
One of the best things we can do is save, save, save -- because we've all got to be in a position to vote to repeal Social Security and Medicare. And set aside aside enough to fund the campaigns of the representatives who will vote to dismantle the welfare state. If we're going to have a safety net, it needs to be a brand-new one that's solvent. The old one is a destructive fantasy.
Dianainsa:For at least 20 years that I am aware of, liberals have been teaching courses on "how to organize at the grassroots". These courses have been taught in our universities, in our high schools, and I have seen some kids in 6th grade being introduced to the idea of grassroots organizing. I am hoping that those who want to help lead us out of this mess will run to their university bookstore (not Barnes and Noble) and buy those books. You spoke to the issue of the left media managing the "story" better than you--yup they do that extremely well. You know why? Because they have the experts in rhetoric working for them. THEY HAVE ACCEPTED THAT RHETORIC IS THE MOST EFFECTIVE TOOL. They have not turned away from rhetoric as if it was some dirty joke. NOPE THEY USE IT! If you look at your local university's extension course listing you will find courses in rhetoric, debate, speech. Those classes and the tools they provide are essential. Take a night class, or better yet squeeze into your busy days a daytime class on campus--see what is really going on. Keep your mouth shut and learn!
I have personally known several young children who were "guided" into summer camps to discover "the environment". To study the trees, the climate, etc. They were then encouraged to organize, or become active participants in demonstrations favoring environmental concerns. As they got older (senior in high school) they were given "internships" at the local union office, or at the local activist office for some good cause. Some young women were given amazing sports scholarships dependent of course on mommy/daddy co operating at the community level in small towns. I have said it before, I am going to say it again the dems have actively been raising up this generation of leaders. They have sought out the children whose parents were well respected in their small communities, or who were influential in some way. They have trained them, brainwashed them one step at a time. Some of our public universities have courses listed that are really only open to these specific students--you paid for these courses. The terrifying thing is that your child's 5th grade teacher is watching, looking, observing, rewarding the "right" student with special opportunities, or projects. All of this in order to weed out and find those children who will be shepherded into advanced training for grassroots organization. I know of one young girl, who expected to be elected as the state representative from a rural community of about 30 registered voters. She was 18, never lived in the community, but mommy/daddy owned a vacation cabin there. She was so angry "those red necks just can't imagine an 18 year old being smarter than they are and being a leader!" Her teacher's union supporters "mentors", had gotten her a little stipend and moved her into the vacation cabin the summer before the election. All of that was organized by outsiders!
First time visitor to Maggie's Farm, and a NE Yankee myself. I took a carload to the DC rally on Sat and the grassroots rising up of Americans was awesome. All the energy and ideas are on our side. Many of us are angry at how our federal gov't has been hijacked in the name of the poor and uninsured who will get only crumbs from this radical legislation.
Outside California, New England has been the most liberal redoubt of the socialist strain of progressives. It is up to us NEers to strike deep into the heart of socialist liberalism by destroying the base of safe seats they've accumulated here in our back yard. Commit to making it so in November, federal state & local. The shot heard round the world this time will be at the ballot box. Duke you are correct to begin at the ballot box. In my opinion first step is to clean up the voting process. I propose the following steps:
1. Signature referendum in each state to do the following: a.) remove all voting machines b.) remove all mail in voting systems c.) require proof of citizenship. Not rent receipts, not driver's licenses, not utility bills, not a receipt for this morning's Dunkin Donuts. ONLY PROOF of CITIZENSHIP, i.e. passports, certified birth certificates, certified naturalization papers. 2. Desks outside of polling booths armed with young people strong enough to make voters, and poll volunteers to feel safe. 3. Volunteers to help count the votes--enough of you with big lips should get down there and count! Second step: It is essential to isolate the issues: 1. Separate out the Constiutional Issues from anything else. DO NOT ALLOW demonstators to join your march if they are carrying signs for religious issues, or zoning issues, or anything else. MARCH FOR CONSTITUTIONAL ISSUES. 2. Make absolutely certain that you also separate Constitutional Issues from monetary issues. NO ONE IN THEIR right mind will vote for an free, unfettered Wall Street anymore! Like abortion, those days are past! The bankers and hedge funders, etc. did that to this country and do not deserve a free ride to continue as they were. So, when you organize make certain that it is about the CONSTITUTION and not about free enterprise. You will loose the Constitution and our freedoms if you mix the two! Sorry BD. 3. Keep religious issues at home. When you loose free elections, you loose your religious freedoms make no doubt about that! Save one and you preserve the other! |
