We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
Maggie's HQ was fortunate to regain heat, cable, and power last night, after losing those fine modern conveniences on Saturday. Here's how we lost them:
That last picture is a beautiful still life - lots of warm colors - love the contrast between the flashlight and the candles - nice composition - seriously.
Glad you are back up and running again. Almost a week - amazing.
No generator at the farm? Back in Oct 1987 we had an early snowstorm here in upstate NY that knocked out power for thousands for as much as 2 weeks. Since then I have always had a gen to be able to live "off the grid" if needed. Comforting to know that I can run the heat and the water well pump and other "necessities" of modern life without utility power.
